The andel’s Hotel is located in the Prague 5 district. This quarter – also known as “Anděl” (English: angel) – is an important extension of the city centre on the left bank of the Vltava River. It is named after the house “U Zlatého anděla” (Golden Angel), which stood in this area.

The Anděl area also inspired the names of the andel’s and angelo hotels. Today, these brands have expanded to many other European cities.

Another famous building in this area is the “Golden Angel” office complex. This project was designed by the world-famous architect Jean Nouvel.

Prominent foreigners who stayed in the area include W.A. Mozart, the geologist and paleontologist Joachim Barrande, for whom Prague and Bohemia became a second home, the physicist and author of the Theory of Relativity Albert Einstein, the writer and playwright Lion Feuchtwanger and others.

THE RAILROAD KINGDOM

The Railroad Kingdom opened in July 2009 with over 115 square meters of railroad models. The model railroad will be expanded every three months. Finally they are aiming for a model that represents the entire Czech Republic. Visitors get an overview of the most important landmarks in the country. Model trains climb the hills of Ještěd, Karlštejn and go around the Prague Castle. In four years the Railroad Kingdom will be the largest in Central and Eastern Europe.

SHOPPING

Would you like to take home a nice souvenir from Prague? The Anova gift shop, offering traditional Czech crystal, garnets and jewellery, can make the distance shorter for you. The shop is located on the street level of andel’s hotel and is open daily. For your shopping needs, you can also use the adjacent Novy Smichov shopping centre, with more than 130 brandname shops.

GOLF CLUB MOTOL

Should you wish to enjoy your time playing golf, the Golf Club Motol is available just 4 km far from the hotel. The 9-hole grounds, established in 1926, offer both tradition, social and business gatherings. The facilities include a 9-hole golf course, training area (which comprises a driving range, chipping and putting greens), car park, clubhouse with a terrace, and a restaurant, all surrounded by beautiful countryside.
